Feeling refreshed from his timely nap, the little wish floated over the other items on the dresser. There was a smeary diary with about half of the ink of every word spiraling up off the paper making strange patterns in the water. The little wish could make out only very few words and some of those seemed to be hovering lightly over the surface of the paper. The word "bye" shimmered in suspension close to "ever", while "heir" and "reje" and "beau" all floated freely in a little dance.

The little wish was glad now that his mom had made him study his letters. He found himself making up a little story about Helfa's last moments.

"Bye this tyme, my beautiful heir should have grown several feet," Helfa mourned. "Whatever shall I do? My reje shall never accept a substitute!" She burst into tears, crying until there was a large puddle about her feet.

The story was so sad that the little wish couldn't stand it. He wavered out the door in the direction of the banquet hall to bury his sorrows with a few good leftovers.
