If wishes were fishes, then they would be free to roam all over. They might have a pond or a river or a stream-or a lake or a bay or an ocean. Actually wishes are boundless, fettered only by an imagination that is stuck in fresh water when salt water is the way to go.

There was once a person who spent a lot of time pondering on what to wish. The thoughts included old cautions like, "Be careful what you wish for. It might come true." or "You only have three wishes in your whole life. Don't use them frivolously." or "Don't wish your life away." So, the person finally decided that time was awastin'-and wished to know the truth about wishes. Another old adage is that "The truth will set you free." The wish, once made, let the person get on with their life.

Several years later, the person ran across two farmers bickering in the road. But freedom can be a two-edged sword. Because once the person had wished this wish, she realized how easy it had been.
