Several years later, the person ran across two farmers bickering in the road.

"Yes, it is!" said one.

"Oh, no it isn't!" said the other.

"C'mon now, Jeb, ya said the same thing about high-speed internet access and limited multifunction AI, did'ncha, and look where that got ya."

"Well, ok . . . but this is completely different!"

"Is not!"

"Is so!"

Having learned the truth about wishes years ago, our friend had no desire to be caught up in such a pointless argument. Stepping around the oblivious farmers, the traveler moved on.

Further down the road were two accountants discussing the weather and the best time to plant their crops. They were yammering in much the same way as the farmers, so our protagonist again went around.
